Our Approach

Find the Cause Before Replacing Anything

A breaker that won’t stay on, lights that dim, or part of the house going dark are all symptoms. Swapping parts until the problem goes away can leave the real fault in the wall, so we trace each issue to its source first and repair what actually failed. If the source is an outdated or full panel, see Panel & Service Upgrades for your options. For problems at a business, see Commercial Electrical.

Frequently Asked

Electrical Troubleshooting Questions, Answered

Quick answers to the questions homeowners ask most before booking a repair.

Q1

Why does my breaker keep tripping?

A breaker trips to stop a circuit from overheating. The usual reasons are too many devices running on one circuit, a short, or a ground fault. Resetting it again and again doesn't fix the underlying issue, so it's worth having the circuit checked.

Q2

What causes lights to flicker?

A single flickering fixture often has a loose bulb, a worn switch, or a bad connection at the fixture. If lights flicker in several rooms, or when a large appliance starts, the problem may be in the panel or the service coming into the house and should be looked at soon.

Q3

Is a warm or buzzing outlet dangerous?

It can be. Heat, buzzing, a burning smell, or scorch marks usually mean a loose or damaged connection. Stop using the outlet, switch off its breaker if you can do so safely, and have it inspected. If you see smoke or flames, call 911.

Q4

Can you replace a broken switch or outlet?

Yes. A worn, cracked, or loose switch or outlet is a common repair, and we’ll replace it with a working device. For upgrades like GFCI, USB, or smart devices, see Switches & Outlets.

Q5

What should I tell you when I call?

Tell us what you're seeing, when it started, whether it's one spot or several rooms, and anything that changed recently, like a new appliance or a storm. Photos of the panel or the affected device help too.

Q6

An outlet stopped working. What should I check first?

Look for a GFCI outlet nearby, often in a bathroom, kitchen, garage, or outdoors, and press its reset button. Then check the panel for a tripped breaker. If the outlet is still dead after both, call us to inspect it.
